Major Installation Help Needed..I Think

I just got a MA Audio m1889I amp and 2 power acoustik pw2-12m subs...I hooked them up to an Alpine cdm 9821 cd player.......i was totally disappointed with the sound.......From what i understand.....that amp should push the hell out of those subs......what am i doing wrong......or do i just have some trash.......Im not real familiar with hooking up stereo systems ...but i know the basics....I think it has something to do with the ohms.....can someone also explain that to me. any help would be greatly appreciated.

well, how are they wired up, what ohm are your subs, single or dual voice coil?

If you are getting really bad response, you could have phasing issues.

how are the subs cabled to your amp, the load you put on the amp has a lot to do with its performance, as does the balance of the phase of the amp's output.

wire one pos to pos and neg to neg and the other neg to pos and pos to neg, they are going to sound extremely bad.
