mainstream subs ( RF T1, T2) professional opinion

i was at the rf dealer today because i bought my head unit from them and it shorted out so they needed to send it out, and i was looking at the t1 and t2 by rockford fosgate. and noticed that the things were freaking huge for doing nothing but look kinda cool. i know they are pretty much all show no go (at least compared to the level most of us on here are at and for the outrageous price) and i almost wanted to make fun of them to the shop guys and owners of them. So i was wondering what exactly you pros thought of subs like these especially the t2. personally i see overkill, tons of plastic and just extra crap to put on to get guys with more money than brains to justify buying them. whatchu think?

I can agree, I stop in at the local shop from time to time just to BS and whatever. The new managers are are friends of mine (the owner is a bit of a crack head and we dont get along, but these guys are cool) anyway, they are starting to sell DC and sundown in at the shop so of course Im pumped. But you gotta sell main stream to stay in business so they carry rockford and kicker and all that. I think that the rockford subs lie a lot more than the kicker stuff. have you ever looked at a P3? I was like ****, that thing is huge! Then I picked it up and its all plastic. I know the P1 subs have a 1.5inch VC and a single stack magnet that rivals a Pyle sub underneath the giant boot. At least kicker sells you what you looked at for the most part. I remember my very first subs were the P1 Rockfords, I took off that magnet boot and couldnt have been more upset with them. Later I blew them on the wall socket and saw the coil and got even more upset. I know that kicker stuff is overrated, but if you buy a kicker comp and flip it over you can see the magnet is small and you know what youre getting into. BS man and I would buy a Kicker anything over a rockford anything these days.

agreed, i hate how they talk to me about rf like "hey man, when are you gonna get rid of those crappy Fi or whatever those are and get some real subs like a T2?" im like when an 800 dollar 1200 watt 15 can beat 1 of the 400 dollar 2500 watt 12s in spl or sq. idk it aggrivates me. then i see people come in with 1000 dollars like yo set me up and after all the bs i hear him say ok, for the 2 12" kenwoods in a small sealed box and a 350 watt kenwood amp after installation that will be $899....i wanted to talk to the guy outside and be like yo, for 1000 dollars on CA.com i could find you something that will tear your guts apart and make you walk sideways....i believe my next sub is going to be an SPLaudio 18 so ima love to come in with that thing and be like yup, this thing is half the price and its kickin the balls off your t2 and it was made by a dude right up by sodas bay....this is what happens when somebody making a woofer knows wtf they are doing.

I agree about RF. There subs are trash but there amps are awesome just waaay overpriced. I hate seeing people jizz about the t1 an t2 lines. Overrated crapola. Yes some kicker stuff is the same but most of us know the abuse a cvr will take. How much abuse will a p2 take? I owned a set of p1s, took them out the box and sold them immediately. Couldn't believe how tiny they were. Only RF subs I'll ever consider buying anymore will be only TRF or HX2 models.

I know some old school T2s that banged. I have yet to see anything T series in the last 5 years installed, much less heard it. Prime series is good bang for the buck (retail speaking), however. Beyond that, I wouldn't touch anything RF has put out since 2005.

Yeah , i went to the pawn shop yesterday to sell that shelf system i had on here for sale and while i was there i grabbed a p3 12 off the shelf and asked them if i could try it out. They were asking 200 for it. LOL. I brought it outside with the pawn shop guy and we hooked it up , i set my 8 out on the ground and wired up the 12. The guy was like , see man! i told you that thing slams!! I laughed at him and set it back on the ground , hooked my 8 back up and cranked it up. Dude flipped his lid. I told him the ****** sells for 75 dollars brand new. He lierally went out to his car , unhooked his P2 sub , and had me write down the american bass website. He told me he was gonna buy one that night. LOL

From one stand point I sort of understand shops ripping people off, most of the owners dont know any better, but they also have to make a buck too. Most people think two sealed 15s off 350rms clipped to hell is loud anyhow. Plus it just makes giving demos so much more fun. "Dude check out my system." "Holy **** man, I have never heard anythign bang that low, what you got back there like some L7s or somethin?" "Nope, just a pair of 8s lol"

But on a more hopeful note, the local shop here is starting to sell DC and Massive //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif and its funny because a lvl4 is about the same price as the higher end rockford crap. Course kicker comps will always be the top seller.

Everyone needs to make a buck. And just out of curiosity what was everyone's first subs? T3, FI, dd, dc? Doubtful, mine were Sony xplods!! Haha, and the majority don't upgrade from that so thats where there revenue is going to come from...the first timers.
