Lugnut key failure!

So, I get ready to slap on these spiffy looking lugnuts, and I open up the package and it comes with this shady looking tool to remove the lugnuts. Sure enough, I don't get two of the lugnuts torqued down to specs, and the key FAILS! It shears off right down the center, and tears like it's going to open up all the way! Deadly little bastard cut the shit out of me too while I was checking the damage.

Ever happened to anyone else? What type of lugs does everyone use?

What did your torque them with?

A small honda 1.6l motor. Torque-y little bastard, it is.

A properly set up (to factory specs, which escape me right at this very moment) air ratchet hooked up to a good sized tank and compressor.

you put lugnuts on with an air ratchet?

Perhaps I am not using the correct internet terminology for the ****ing tool. It's what they use at say... Discount Tires.

Jesus. The tool goes 'zip! zip!' and your lugs are now torqued up.

to remove lock nuts:

1) Cover everything BUT the nut in question with layers of alum foil....

2) Weld a bolt close in size to the head of the lock nut...

3) remove lock nut.

4) purchase new set of lock nuts

I already removed them. I have a universal tool that fits anything so long as you hit it hard enough with a hammer. Then you twist, and if you hit it hard enough, then you don't have any more lock nuts.

But you better hope you don't miss with the hammer...

Hammer time is not so fun on nice wheels!

return to the fact of the matter...

The key should not have failed in the first place.

Now, back on subject...

What kinda open ended lugs does everyone use?!?
