Lows in Component speakers?

Can components handle really low frequencies? I have my lows at max when i listen to rap so i can get the most bass out of my system, but i am asking if it is ok to have lows coming through your components. I have the HPF on 100 and the LPF on 80 as well.

You won't get good bass up front without speakers designed to produce it. Best you can do is give yourself the illusion of good bass up front. The way it's been explained to me is that just turning the x-over lower isn't that big of a help. I used to think getting the front mids to play lower was all that was necessary. Tried it, all I got was a dull, lifeless bass fronm the front mids that didn't help blending issues that much. What worked better for me was keeping the x-over at 70-80 HZ to focus the mids on playing the frequencies they play best and then I used what little EQ I had to emphasize the frequency range right around 80 Hz. Now Im getting that strong, full, smooth midbass I was looking for from the front mids as those speakers are picking up where the sub leaves off rather than playing watered down sub frequencies. The feeling of up front bass is stronger now than When I just tried getting them to play low frequencies.

Also I dont know what is meant by 'lows at max' but you definitely don't wanted overboosted lower frequencies coming from mid range speakers.
