Low Sub Volume

Hey guys. Quick question. I have a kenwood 800 watt amp hooked up to a 12" sony xplode 1300 watt sub. At high volume levels, it sounds great. At lower volume levels, I can hardly hear the sub at all. The other thing worth noting, if I put in a bass cd, I CAN hear the sub with no problems. It's just when I have in other cd's no matter what genre. Rap, Country, Rock, all have the same bass levels at low volumes. None. I have a crappy head unit (Kenwood PoS) and I'm running the amp from the rear rca output in the back. I have been thinking about upgrading to a unit with sub pre amps but haven't had the extra cash laying around to do so. Would this help my problem? Thanks for any info you guys might have on this.

Does you amp have LPF and is it on?

What are you amp; gains, bass boost, frequency, set to?

What Ohms is your sub and can your Amp handle?

What is the bass set to on your radio?

Amp does have LPF and I have it turned up all the way. Bass boost is up all the way, Gain is up all the way. Sub is a 4ohm, amp pushes 250 watts at 4 ohms and 350 watts at 2 ohms. So Im wondering if I got a new sub with 2 voice coils I could make it 2 ohm and get more power from the amp? Bass on the radio is set at 3 out of 8 usually. Depends on the music Im listening too and what volume I have it on.

What is your RCA signal volt input in your amp and you RCA volt output on your H/U? If the amp is not getting the right input voltage it will not function properly.

---If that mp only increases a 100 watts when it receives a 2 ohm load...yes t will be louder but that's not a huge increase. What is the model of your amp? Model f your sub?

It is a 12" Sony Xplod 1300watt sub with a Pioneer GM 7100m 800watt amp. The RCA preamp output on my head unit is 2 volts. Not sure about the rca signal volt input for the amp.

Turn all of that down.
