Low Sound On Right?????????

I have a 1992 Dodge Ram1500 Pick-up. It was sitting for a while so the factory speakers went to crap. So I went to Wal-Mart and picked up a set of Road Master 6.5in. Subwoofer/ tweeter horn boxes and a set of 6x9 Durabrand 4 way speakers for the doors. Remember not the best brands because not enough money flow at 16 years old.

I installed the speakers in the doors and placed the boxes in the tray behind the seat. I ran wire jumpers from the factory connections to the speakers to reach behind the seat.

When everything hooked up I couldn't get the right and left side to equal out in sound. Plus it was a little distorted.

So I ordered a new-used factory head unit from an installer where the head unit was a take out.

when it arrived I installed it and the same thing the right side was faint and left side sounded great. Then after about 3min. of just going through the radio channels it finally evened out and sounded great.

I left the radio playing while I put the dash back together and right when I put the steering column cover back on it started doing the same old thing again.

Any ideas on what is causing the problem? Do you thing I should get a newer head unit with a dash install kit?

Thanks,
