looking to play around in the as1-as3 class. what amps dont need a ot of current so i can use a small fuse? how much bigger fuses can i have in the amp than the one they count 18 inches away from amp? i saw a amp with 3x30amp fuses run off 1 70amp. what's the trick to using a small fuse? or is it the amp? and yes i'm a nooob

Its the amp. Most of the time the fuse will pop, you dont want that, stick with the recommended fuse size. Also, i had a memphis 1000 with 2 40's in it and a 80a fuse and it did 1000-1200 watts. Said to be 90% efficient or so.

could i burp a amp with 3x30s with a 60 amp inline fuse and still get 900 watts?

Look into amps such as Kicker, Sundown, etc. that have low current draws.

It's okay to pop the fuse, as long as you can put up a good score before it pops. I pop my fuse every run:)

You can run the # of fuses that the class is called, i.e. as1 is 1 fuse, as2 is 2 fuses, as3 is 3 fuses. Typically small amperage fuses are the most underrated.

The way to figure out what fuses work best is to buy different types and try them on a Termlab:)

THANKS! what type do you use? are the round fuses better than the plug in? what size fuse does your amp call for and what are you using?

am i reading that right a 30 amp on 2 3000 watt amps? and they are less eff at a 4 right?
Yes, you are reading that right:laugh: My fuse pops every run, but I'm still able to do a 148.x off a 30A fuse. I lose about 2 dB due to running a single fuse. No, amps tend to get more efficient as you raise the load because the amount of work they have to do decreases. I think the amps are rated for 3200 @ 4 ohms strapped or something like that.
