Low budget bass

I have a 96 Ford Mustang Cobra with the stock Mach 460 sound system. I would like to add some bass. The factory system has plenty of bass for me, only problem is that it seems to be distorted instead of clean. Biggest deal is that I am on a budget of about $200. Also, I want something that doesn't take up space. I am not sure what I need. In my last vehicle I had 2 JBL 10's with about 400 watts, and it was way more than I was looking for. I am thinking that I just need to replace the factory speakers with higher quality one (they are already amplified, not sure how many watts per speaker, but there are two or three amps putting out a total of 460 watts). Would that clean the bass up? Next option is a single 8 or possibly 10 (possibly Kicker Comp, I know it is in my budget). I would go with a cheaper sub (duh) and something like a Kicker ZX300.1 amp. I would get a very small sealed enclosure for it. I know $200 won't get you much sub wise, so I was really thinking about speakers. Any suggestions on what to do and what to install? Thanks.

Memphis Mclass 8 or 10 would e pretty efficient. They are about 80 for the 6 or 80 for the 10 and excellent SQ subwoofers.

Do I really need subs? That is what happened last time. I am no bass junkie, just like a little. I was told to get subs, and while I was doing it to get a pair of 10's. I spent a lot of money on a system that never pleased me. I kept the subs turned down so far and they didn't sound good. I don't like the loud bass. You will probably never hear me from outside the car. Since my door speakers are amplified, I wasn't sure if adding a high quality speaker would help. That is the way I prefer to go, but not if it is gonna be a waste of money. Thanks.

get rid of that factory MACH Box in the rear...Install a couple of RE 10's on a medium powered amp 250-300rms at 2 ohm amp....run them in a couple of small sealed boxes about .5 each ....also update the door speakers to PG 6.5 RSD's...you can replace the tweeter into the Mack 460 door a pillar spot so look for an amp about 4 x 125 or 150...The front chs on the RSD's...It should be sweet sounding budget set up....I'm guessing below $1000 on everything installed...a nice 4ch Big Amp...2 RE 10's......Box.....PG RSD 6.5's ....4ga wiring kit.....
