lost low notes with new box?

i built a new box for when i get my other sub shipped ..but with the one sub in the box" 2 chambers" it dosnt hit the same notes as the other box...the new one is 5-6 cubes per side tuned to 35hz the old was 8-9 tuned the same ...does the more air space play that much on the sound

Yes. Bigger boxes tend to play down lower and sound better imo.

well i found out my box is tuned to 31.81 so should i change the port to get closer to 35

Bigger boxes definitely help bring out the low notes. We need to know exactly what equipment you're working with.
