I giver her props to try living her dream, but sailing the world solo is like climbing Mt. Everest - the open sea is very dangerous and people with a lot more experience than her have died trying to do the same.

50 foot seas, 60 MPH winds, 400 miles from help, in the middle of the indian ocean in a life raft at best, most likely just floating in the water in a survival suit. Stick a fork in her - she is done.
Hopefully, her stupid parents will blame themselves. You dont allow a child to attempt something so incredibly stupid - you step up as a responsible parent and say, "wait until you are 18, and pay for it yourself!" Essentially, they paid lots of cash to get their daughter drowned at sea...

Searchers contact teen lost at sea

THOUSAND OAKS, Calif. – A family spokesman says searchers have contacted a 16-year-old Southern California girl who was feared lost at sea and she is alive and well.

William Bennett said late Thursday night that searchers aboard an Airbus A330 spotted Abby Sunderland's boat in an upright position and made contact with her via radio.

Speaking outside the family's Thousand Oaks home, Bennett said Sunderland said she was inside the boat and doing fine with a space heater and at least two weeks worth of food.

Bennett said the mast had broken off the disabled boat.

He said a fishing vessel was en route to pick her up. The vessel is expected to reach her in about 40 hours.

Yep, she is OK...and as the consensus appears to be that she is a hottie, one must also agree she is hot with no fucking brains as the following quote proves:
