I am looking for an amp to push my current setup at 500 watts @ 4ohms. However, I will most likely want a new sub in the future, such as the gcon, sa 12, or the Fi alpha 12. For each amp, I wouldn't go past the sub's rating (750 rms for sale 12 and gcon, 600 for the alpha), not for the sub, but tonly be friendly on my stock alternator and my yellow top.
The amps I am looking at are the
Kenwood 9106D, I currently have the 8105d, and I have basically killed it. A year and a half ago, when I installed my subs, I didn't know 2 2ohm subs wired separately and then plugged into the mono amp would be an equivalent of 1 ohm. So, it took a beating of 1 ohm 500 watts rms for about 14 months, then started acting funny. I just swapped the wiring to give me a total of 4 ohms at the amp, and needless to say I am impressed. Not only is the amp still woking, but I set it to 400 watts at 4 ohms using a dmm, and it's still going. However, now I want more power.
Another option would be the
Alpine MRX-M110
Alpine PDR-M65
OR
Audio pipe APCL-1500D
Currently have my amp connected via speaker level inputs, and if I went with ano LOC, I'd go with the LC2i, but I'm leaning towards the Kenwood (edit: 9106D) more for the Speaker level input, and my experience with the 8105d.
Any opinions on the amp, or suggestions for any different ones?
Edit: It was brought to my attention that the idea of the LC2i was unclear. I apologize for that.
My current amp is the Kenwood 8105D. It is attached via speaker level input on the amp.
I am looking at
Kenwood 9106D
Alpine MVX-110
Alpine PDR-m65
Audio Pipe ACLP-1500D + LC2I (since amp has no Speaker level input)
My concern about the LC2I, was I would go for the audio pipe amp, however I would need an LOC (the LC2i). I'd rather not spend more on it if the speaker level inputs on the Kenwood or Alpine would suffice
