I am want to add some bass to a jeep liberty. I need to keep some cargo space for groceries etc. I don't need to **** off the world, but would like it to be loud. I was thinking of getting a one sub setup. I don't know what subwoofer I should get. I don't care if its 8",10" , or 12". I would like the sub to be 500 watts or smaller. I don't wanna worry about dimming with lights etc. I listen to rap but want it to be more be SQ vs Spl. I use SPL for my other truck.

I noticed the Sundown Audio SA-8 only need .75 ^ft. But I don't know if the sound would sound great, especially since im looking for SQ. Thanks for any suggestions.

I have a pair of Adire Audio Koda 8" subs. $130 shipped on the pair. You wont find a better sounding driver for less. They use XBL^2 technology to achieve a very low distortion driver. The pair would be perfect on 300wrms.

I have two custom built 8's that would work well for you...

Looking for new. Thanks for the suggestions though.
Take a look at the Ultra A-12's. They are specifically SQ oriented. They are great quality subs. I have a couple people doing reviews on them on the forum and they seem to love them so far. They arnt terribly expensive either. Pm me if you are interested!

I may get flamed but here goes...

I have a pair of JL w1v2 8's in 1.4 cuft tuned to 33hz.....

Sound outstanding and can dig very deep. In this box(final nominal load is 2 ohms) the take the power from my current Xtant 1001xd...500+ clean rms @ 2 ohms.

I will say that they may like just a tad smaller box...maybe 1.2 ish.

For what ever the reason, the 8" w1v2 is a great sounding driver, IMO 10X better than the other w1v2's.

I have a pair of new in box idq8v3 dual 4. The pair would do well on 500w and sound good 140shipped. The adire koda's would sound amazing though, if I was planning an sq install id buy them, but I love loud.

How much space you can give up? Budget? If you can play with 2cu ft, one cheap and easy possibility is to put a 2012 Alpine Type-S 15 inch sub into a 2cu ft sealed box. Power handling is at 500watts. This latest design supposedly sounds very good. One of the few underhung voice coil designs on the market. If you need a more compact box, consider Image Dynamics IDQ12 in a 1cu ft sealed box. These are good SQ subwoofers, but can get pretty loud with xmax being at 19mm and power handling >500watts. Expensivish, but not too bad. If 1cu ft is still too big, consider Alpine's SBR (R8 in a custom ported box). These are very good subwoofers. In this box, it supposedly can only handle about 300-350watts because it's tuned too low. Infinity Kappa 120.9w should be happy in 1cu ft sealed box with 500watts too.
