looking to buy an explorer, need opinions

i average 17 mpg..
doesn't seem very reliable. since i've got it i've replaced the brakes, a wheel bearing, both tie rod's, all 4 shocks, and my check engine light is still on.

its a 1999 limited w/ 90,000 miles on it. Also, the h/u mounting system is stupid. Held in by clips, cd's skip in the 147db range w/ my 880 prs anyway.
LOL so.. to be "reliable" wear parts cannot wear out, eh? good luck finding that one.

I got a 98 explorer xlt and LOVE it, adding audio equipment is sooo easy and it gets HELLA loud, no problems with it so far at all, its the v8 version so it has some kick in it too!

they weren't all "wear parts"... wheel bearings should last longer than 75,000(how much was on the truck when i purchased it)... as should tie rod ends, door locks, power mirrors, door speaker wiring, factory woofer wiring, shocks, and memory seats... lemme think what else is wrong with it. The hatch leaks pretty bad and also the interior lights randomly stop/start working.

and i'm the third owner of it. both other owners were old men(60's range) so it wasn't beat on.

Three times were rental cars from Enterprise. Once when I just got back from deployment to afghanistan. Once when my front end was getting worked on and another one when my exhaust and iac were being changed. The other two times were designated driver for a friend who owned one. Helping another friend move out of the barracks and into the city. I am assuming the reason we have so many of them on post is because of that powertrain deal that Brougham is talking about.

Yeah man, those seats are a pain in the ***.
OIC, I thought you might work with Dodge/Chrysler.

I am toying with the idea of a 300.

On another note they are very reliable.

Don't know if they have changed from 03 to 05, but my 03 was a POS......

Transmission and Rear end went out at 100k miles

Other than that it was very nice, and sounded pretty darn good with my 6 187 12's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
