Looking to buy a perfect HU for around $150

Well, I've asked questions to sales people and posters on other forums, I couldn't get a good answer out of them...some even gave me contradictive statements, which just made my quest for a perfect HU that much more difficult.

Anyway, I prefer to use this HU with my first-generation iPhone, I prefer to 1)control & navigate album & songs on iPhone, and 2) the ability to charge the phone. So I am pretty much set on a HU with front USB port, but which one?

I don't really care about sound quality (as long as it's not crappy). Bluetooth is nice, but optional. I want something simple that doesn't require tons of wires and adapter to make it work.

So far, JVC and Pioneer are the front runners because they seems to have two-way control on HU and iPhone. One salesperson told me that the front USB port on Alpine will not work with iPhone, only the rear will...so Alpine is out of contention for this reason alone.

Which headunit model do you guys recommend? Given my preference and price range.

lol go to caraudioclassifieds.org theyl answer your question dude. this sites for the excessive amount of losers on the planet with no lifes and probly dont even care about you or your audio question. but if it means anything i have the pioneer deh4000 and i like it alot and i dont see why it wouldnt work for the iphone. it has a usb port coming out of the rear but you can still run it somewhere accesible.

The kenwoods work with the ipod touches. Idk about i-phones tho.

Any more suggestion? How about some Pioneer? Although I have reservation about the style and quality but I've heard good things about them.

op, look into kenwood. i have the x993 and it works perfectly with my 3g. it'd about double the price range you are looking at but you can work your way down the model list.

i have this unit but i dont have a ipod or iphone but it does work with the ipod so i assume it would work with the iphone and there is a used on on ebay for $70 right now

The kenwood is not compatible with the 1st gen I-pod. It is compatible to the I-phone.
