that's why there's carfax. also have a mechanic look at it prior to buying, and even test drive it. and if the vehicle has been sitting on a lot for 6 months, then you basically name your own price to move it off their lot. and i'm not sure what oklahoma's policy on the "lemon law" is, tho there's really no guidelines in a lot of states.best mechanic i ever used said you never know what your buying. if i were you id buy a $4000 ride, and save $16000, for upgrades and emergencies.if you spend all your money on your ride, what will you buy gas / a new clutch, or some subs with? you could end up with a $20,000 lemon.
There's an '06 Malibu for sale in our local Thrifty Nickel (American Classifieds or whatever they call it now) and the ad states the car has 87,xxx miles on it. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gifthat's why there's carfax. also have a mechanic look at it prior to buying, and even test drive it. and if the vehicle has been sitting on a lot for 6 months, then you basically name your own price to move it off their lot. and i'm not sure what oklahoma's policy on the "lemon law" is, tho there's really no guidelines in a lot of states.
but also, buying an older vehicle (say, a 99 for $8k with 89,876 miles on it), you could start running into engine problems depending on how extensively it was driven and it's just older. but the same can be said for newer vehicles as well. i saw an 04 that had almost 100K miles on it already.
thanks for the support.I was also looking at used cars for a while, and I finally changed my mind to buy a new car. I am going to buy an 07 Chevrolet Colorado, it is really nice because it comes with a 5 yr 100k warranty, you cant beat that. Most are under 20k.
You should really take a look at them, they get good gas mileage and they are still a midsize truck.
You should also check insurance quotes on new vehicles, sometimes it can be cheaper like said above. The best insurance quote for me by far was allstate.
Good Luck.
