Looking for the best 6.5" period SQ (but bassy)

I've heard the some of the Dyn/Morel drivers... let's just say the mondo voice coil looks good on paper. The tweeters are very good though... in my opinion, they carry the set.

James: Currently I own an 00 BMW 3 Series. It's for sale so the system won't go in it. I am considering getting either an 03-04 M3 or 330CI or an 01-03 X5. If its the X5 it only has a 2 way front, so I don't know where I'd make room for a mid.
Are there some good 3 way comp sets out there?

If you get an e46 coupe remember that it's difficult to install drivers with a deep mounting depth. When you cut into the door the window track is directly behind where you need to cut, so you can't go very far into the door you have to built it out with MDF rings.

Yup, thanks for the words of warning that's exactly why I said I wasn't considering the RE xxx 6.5's.

Are the window tracks like that on all beamers or just 3 series coupes? My most likely buy will be the x5 (unfortunately m3 will RAVAGE my bank account, ive only got like 20Gs to spend and my system is in that budget).

Now from your personal experience owning a bmw 3 series do you think I am going to be able to fit most of these sets in my doors without doing some crazy *** shit?

I am really gonna try to go with the M but lets just say I'm not confident //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/nerd.gif.c6fa51ddf7ff75f1c0371fbc648f70ae.gif

The window track concern is only on the coupes. It's clear behind the speaker (where you'll need to cut) on the sedans so you can go with deeper mount drivers.

Ya coupes are fun to play with. To get any descent size drive in the door you have to cut the door skin, in which there is the mentioned window track behind it. Then you have to make mdf rings to bring the speaker out. Then deal with positioning to fit the door panel back over it. It takes a few tries but can be done. 2.75" mounting depth is the deepest I could ever get on them before it starts to push out the door panel. Either that or go with a 5.25" set and you can go pretty deep then.

Most of the sets *will fit*, but if you want to keep the door panels even remotely stock on the outside, the driver can't be larger then 6.55" diameter, and depth, 2.8" will fit with cut doors and mdf panel, and even deeper if the magnet is not very wide. This already takes a lot of modding in the doors, not crazy, but a ***** nonetheless. The X5 is much more component friendly IMO, but yes all 3 series have these window tracks, sedans have them a little further which allows for a bit more mounting depth.
