As the title says, my HU isn't doing the job I want it to. Looking for an upgrade. Currently, and sadly, I am running DEH-X6500BT. I need something that I can actually put to lower than 50hz, and hopefully have more than a 2v preamp output. I have been looking into Alpine CDE-HD149BT but really haven't heard much on them. Can get them way cheaper on Amazon, but all the reviews talk on scratched off Serial numbers and issues with them and such.. hmmm. 147/148/149 bt are all great choices. However playing below 50hz shouldn't be related to the head unit.

I don't know much about Head units. What is the difference between a 2v, 4v, or 5v pre amp output? Is a difference noticeable? And what about the low pass filter? The 149 can go from 20-200hz but my current HU can only go 50-125hz.

A low pass filter allows everything BELOW that number to be played so if you set it to 125hz. Itll allow 0-125 hz to be played. if you set it to 50 hz. itll allow 0-50hz to be played.
