Looking for something better!

i'm currently running an MT 15 and a PB3000 amp. This setup is extremely loud but to me kinda sounds like s**t. So im looking for something along the lines of 2 12's that can handle about 1500 watts each and can give me the output of the MT but with better sound quality. i have a total net of about 5 ft^3 space to work with and want to run them ported. prolly about 2.25 ft^3 each sub. Basically I want to try to get around 150 db with 2 12's with good sound quality.

First you need to learn the difference between SPL #s and what sounds loud to the ear. There are some vehicles that do mid-high 140's that make you want to vomit and there are some that do 155's that are about as annoying as a mosquito buzzing close to your ear.

The point is that he got into car audio competition thinking that SPL #'s means loud. You have to change the idea in your head first. Now, after seeing how things really are and that you can possibly be content with a system that does not throw #'s versus pounds your earwax production glands to a pulp. We can help you get this, just as we can assist in an SPL only setup. It's the mixing of the two that is like pissing up wind. It's useless, because you'll then be beaten by BOTH sides of your competition. The guys that do SPL only will whip your @ss with a fervor and the ladies and gents that do SQ related retardedness will gawk at your system as if you were listening to a Pyramid 8-track system.

Sounding good to a young person that does not go to small theatre live jazz band performances (99.9995% of young people) is easy to attain. A pair of 12's in 5 cubic feet with 80 square inches of vent 16" long and whatever power level you can afford with the charging and power delivery system to back it up and it'll beat your @ss to sleep. The subwoofer that you put in the box will mostly determine just how accurate things sound at "listening levels". When you go above 125dB in the driver's head location, there is not too much that you are going to pick out anyway. Every midrange unit in there will be distorting to the tune of 10+%.

ok, let me rephrase this a little. I fully understand that in the high 140's to low 150's there is a lack of sound quality. but, with the setup i have now, even at a moderate volume it just doesnt sound too good. I'm not trying to win any comps really but if one is local of course im gonna go. So what im looking for is something that has a little better SQ for daily driving then the MT but still wangs when it needs to. I havent had my current setup metered yet but if i make a change i want something that gonna be just about as loud but sounds a little better doing it. If i had more space to work with i'd like to go with 2 15's but i dont knw many 15's that like 2.25 cubes ported.

would i just be better off doing 2 15's sealed? I want to try to keep the output of the mt ported but gain sound quality. My problem right now is only 2-3 songs on each cd i play actually sounds good, everything else sounds like ***! I went to a local comp and did a 143.7 @ 41hz. I would like to stay right around this DB level since i did well in the bass race 130-139.9 class. I did a 139.6 and a 139.7
