The 800prs has a copper chassis and the 80prs doesnt the 800prs is much close to the new 99prs the $1000 head unit.

actually from what ive read only real differance is the copper chassis and the faceplate and most pepole said it was not woth the 50.00 it cost over the 800 model, also i dont think the copper chassis makes it any closer to the 99 prs over the 880 .

to me since I have had both I want the 800 the knobs don't feel so cheap and easy to break the copper chasis is a nice addition as well.

this is the first time ive ever heard a complaint about the knobs ive owned 3 units and never broke a singke knob . but if u say personal prefernce i can agree with u there but its not fair to compare either of these 2 units as close to the 99 prs since they are pretty much the same minus the copper chassis and the 99 prs offers so much more .

just my experience with p880

I had the ribbon contact that connects the faceplate to the main chassis break after 4 years.

This is why the new 80prs is my go to choice. No ribbon contact, no motorized faceplate, still independent l/r eq, high voltage outputs, auto-eq, 24-bit burr brown dac's

The only thing the 80prs is missing is the s3xy design and nice display but ehh I can do without those.

When replacing my p880; I bought the Alpine ced-hd 149bt first, complete piece of 5hit. sent it back and got the 80prs

the p880 and 800 are nice as **** but be weary of all the problems such as pico fuse and breaking the ribbon contact
