If I can get the money together I want to install a system in a my car and I'm wondering what you guys think. I have a '01 Pontiac Grand Prix GT Coupe. It's currently got the stock system in it (receiver with 7ch eq, 6"x9" in the rear deck, 5.25" and tweeters in the doors) and has OnStar, no Bose system. I think it sounds good now but there's no doubt in my mind that it can be better. I don't need anything crazy, cheaper is better (within reason as I don't want some $100 Walmart special) and I don't need something that can be heard a mile away.
For speakers, amp, and sub I'm considering Phoenix Gold all around. I was considering
V690 6"x9"s coaxials for the rear deck and
V5c 5.25" components for the doors. But now I'm thinking it'd be better to go with the
RSD690 and the
RSD5CS speakers do to them being made of slightly higher quality materials.
For an amp, I was considering the
V754. But now I'm looking at the
RSD500.4. Would this be appropriate for these speakers or would one even be needed with the either of the HUs mentioned bellow?
I'd like to get a sub or two (what's the advantage of 2 subs instead of just 1?) and am thinking 10" as I listen to pretty much anything but rap. I don't plan on getting them yet as I'm sure the above setup would sound good without them. When I do I plan to get a monoblock to power them and build my own sub box.
On a side note, for a receiver I'm considering either the
Alpine CDA-9884 or
JVC KD-AR480. I'm open to other suggestions though I'd like to keep the price under $200. Lighting should be mainly red to go with the dash lights and it needs to be compatible with steering wheel mounted stereo controls.
So what do you guys think? I've very open to suggestions and thoughts on the above items as well as any that may be a better choice.
