looking for cheap dynamat material

Whoever posts up the RF of 20 gauge steel with 60 mills worth of 3 mill backed butylene rubber composite, get's the prestigious Fox award for excellence in right brain structrual-borne-noise-control thought processes. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/uhoh.gif.c07307dd22ee7e63e22fc8e9c614d1fd.gif

Neither of which are viscoelastic thus cannot dampen. You didn't fall for the "mass loading" guise, did you?

What does viscoelastic mean? Why is it important in effective damping?

Why is mass important in viscoleastic damping materials if very heavy objects (a steel panel) can resonate just as readily and even the same RF as lighter objects (a snare drum)? Should we really be making heavy, dense objects heavier?

What causes an ice cream headache?

What can brown do for you?

I kinda laugh when people refer to deadener as dynamat, but regardless, eDuh sells good lower-end Dampener... I actually am saving up for some. Not sure if I should get it before or AFTER my Fi subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

If you go with the cheap stuff some contact cement on the surface you are applying it to goes a long way... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

Good god this board needs a sound deadening forum. This question comes up twice a day it seems.
Pretty soon the battle over rubber versus asphalt will start, the mentioning of Elemental Designs being a piss-poor choice for deadening products will be mentioned, which will piss off some eD fanboi's who will come to their rescue. Someone will link to sound deadener showdown. Foxpro will stun everyone with techno-speak about standing waves and absorption versus reflection versus frequency. And then everyone will come to the same conclusion as always that FatMat is asphalt, eD is a bunch of liars selling junk, SS Damp Pro is the best you can buy, and Raamat BXT is the best bang-for-your-buck option on the market today.

Sorry for the spoiler.
Should be stickied.
