Looking for amp for Boston Z6s (200-250x2)

Looking for an inexpensive amp to power my Boston Z6's cleanly.

Around 200w X 2 or 250w X 2.

Suggestions? Used isn't a problem if it is an older amp.

If you have suggestions on a black amp to match an RE 12.1, that would be great.

You don't have to provide the Z6's with 200+ watts. Yes it would be nice.

I ran my Z6's off a JL 300/4 (bridged) resulting in each component receiving 150+ wrms and that was more than enough to make these wake up.

Boston acoustics Z series have a distinct dry sound a bit like Focal. They need amps with a warm sound, therefore, those are the one I'd recommend:

PS: out of those only the US Amps do not have a warm sound, however, they are a really good run for your money.

Some amps have distinct sound to them:

Usually (don't flame me), Tube and Class A amps have a warm sound to it - by warm I mean open, envelopping kind of sound. Hard to explain but try to listen to some Focal speakers paired with some Audison VRx series. Then ask to pair the same Focal speakers with let's say some Brax (High end brand).

You'll be able to distiguish a big difference in sound. The louder you go, the bigger the difference will be.

Some may argue that all amps sound the same -- I'll say yes but only at low volume.

Actually... I wonder if snouk dog might not have something there.

It has been a few years since I have had a system, but with my last one, running Focal Polyk on a Phoenix Gold Octane-r amp... I distinctly remember a much... I don't want to say tinny, but a higher waveform..(?). When that amp died, I replaced it with a JL, right about the same wattage (I believe 100x2) and the sounds was noticable different.

Any how... Thanks guys, fantastic recommendations and that is exactly what I needed.

Running on the old MTX... that thing gets HOT (weather doesn't help) and I noticed (today) that there is a buzzing sound coming from one channel; once the amp cooled off... no longer heard it. yet another reason for a higher quality amp //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Even though the OP wanted something with 200+ wrms.. I agree with kmu.

Yes the Z6's are power hungry, yes 200+ would be nice to supply to them but as some know i powered mine off a JL 300/4 (bridged) and was very impressed.

I run my Z6's off an Arc Audio FS4150 bridged. Because the speakers are 3 ohms, you get a boost in power, but the amp has to be able to pull it off without overheating. I thought this might be a problem when bridging the Arc, but it worked out after calling them. Spec sheet says they should be getting 320 watts, but it works out to around 380-400 due to the ohm drop.
