hello,

i have always had a stock stereo system and would love to get the best quality system i can for my budget. i spend so much time in my car now that i have decided to buy a stereo system for my 2006 toyota yaris. i have to tell you that i thought this would be easy, boy was i wrong, there is so much stuff out there!!!

i love good quality sound over extremely loud music, i love bass but it doesnt have to set everyones alarms off when i drive buy. i listen to mostly melotic metal - amon amarth, insomnium, wintersun, stuff like that but i also like to listen to a variety of music.

im looking for some advice on what to get, i dont want to go over $1500 including the cost of installation. whatever advice you guys can give me i would appreciate.

thanks

Why don't you install the stuff yourself. These forums can teach you. If you know the basics of using a screw driver, pliers, and a drill, you will be ok.

all DD or Audioque
I hate people like you. Simply fan bois.

Just like people who swear that SD is better than AQ, or RF, with no basis behind the statement other than that "they heard it".

Installing a sound system in a car really isn't that complicated if you follow the simple directions. It's mostly just grunt work. But, even still, taking a day every week, maybe during the weekend, and working for an hour or two, you could do it in a month or less.

Alright, well, if we split the budget up... I'd spend $300 on a good head unit (Either a Pioneer 800MP, or an Alpine 9887, preferably the 9887 due to the fact that you can go active.)

I'd get a comp set in the price range of $300. I personally suggest Hertz HSK 165's. I have the lower line, the ESK165's, and they sound amazing. Especially with techno.

That brings the price to $600, so you have $900 left in the bank.

For subs, I'd look for a pair of IDMAX's. They're supposed to have really good SQ. I'm honestly not sure on the price. I'd go with either 2 10's or a 12. The single 12 will probably be cheaper. Probably arounf $300. So, you have $600 left. Now, the 12" IDMax will take around 1K watts, and any sub in that price range will take around 1K watts. I'd get either a SunDown 1200D, or SunDown 1000D, other options are the AQ1200, and I think IA (Incriminator Audio) has a 1K monoblock amp. If you decide on the driver, we can help you pick an amp in the proper price range.

Then get 1/0 wire (zero gauge). I'd say you'd have to use 25 or so feet, including that for "The Big 3". Then, 30 feet or so for the speaker wire. These are generalized lengths I use for nearly every car. You could probably get a tape measure and measure and get a better approximation. You can buy the wire on the forum, people have deals on 1/0 awg all the time. If not, look into a place called knukonceptz.com. They have really fairly priced wire.

I think that's all in your price range.
