if i have to go with 10's (i'd go with 3 then) that's fine but i would like some 12's (to replace my flat cone O's) that hit hard in the lower mid bass region, i can't stand boomy subs. i know box and install are important but still would like some opinions. thanks

Just for the record, you shouldn't be running your subs higher than 70 in most applications. You're talking about midbass, and that should be taken care of by your front component speakers (given the doors are properly deadened etc.).

9500's are subs and should be xovered between 0 - 60 or 70 , After that if you want good response 70 - 150 a good midbass setu is needed dont confuse this with components b/c those are mostly midrange but good ones will play midbass although if you wanting alot of output in that area a midbass midrange and tweet is a good idea for the frontstage.

So a sub is boomy if it doesn't go up to 70hz? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

You should be using midbass drivers that high up.Note the sub of subwoofer. And I think the 9500 comment was a joke.
