Looking for a decent amp for my door speakers - need min 75 rms.

I see alot of amps that are 50 x 4 rms , 45 x 4 rms etc etc . Would it be a bad idea to power my door speakers with 50 watts rms if the speakers are 75 watts rms? I am really looking for an Alpine if possible around 200$ or less if possible if not then what do think is a good deal? My door speakers are 4 ohms components and 3 ohm coaxial. I have a very old tnt ttremor 600 made by EARTHQUAKE. It is so old that you can not find it online, lol. Anyhow, my sound is mediocre and think a new amp will clean it up and provide improved quality.

sure you can power them with 50 rms/ch but if you can look for an amp thats say 100 rms/ch that way you can keep the gain lower and not stress the amp.

if you get a 50rms per speaker you will be turning up the gain just to get good sound.

the rule of thumb is get an amp bigger then you need.

i have 100 rms per side comp. and im running them with a 125 rms ( per side ) so that gives me about 25 rms ( per side ) over so i can keep my gain down and get great sound. the amp is 125 rms by 2ch at 4 ohm.

The gain knob is there to match the input section of the amplifier to the voltage your source unit is putting out. If the gain is set too low you have clean power being left on the table. At the very least you must use familiar music and your ears to know when the gain is set high enough. If your amp can take 6V and your head unit has 2V preouts you need to turn that gain up a good amount to get the amplifier putting out close to RMS power. This is the way the amplifier is designed to work, and it is not going to add stress or make the amplifier overheat.

yeah I have my doors running off of a 100 x4 with the gain turned down they rock sox.

Thanks for all the tips guys and what about the 3ohm speakers on a 4 ohm amp issue? Will this create issues?
