Looking for a connector > Dont know what it is...

i'd personally trust the good connection of twisting the wires tightly and taping them any day over the tiny connection made in that crimp...thats just me...
Your method is the worst way to connect wires possible... other than using your method minus any electrical tape. IOW, scotchlocks would be a step up. They work ok so long as you use shrink tube with them. Soldered joints are always ideal, but not always necessary.
