Looking for a 500W RMS 1 channel amp (used < $100)

Hello all,

I am looking for a ~500W rms 1 channel amp to power 2 200W rms 10" MTX subs. Anyone have anything used that's decent and cheap? I found a few amps (MB quart, Alpine, Soundstream, Rockford) for right around $100 shipped on various sites.

Can anyone offer me something that's closer to $50 shipped?

First off, don't do what globalminds_ent said.

Second, when you wire two 4 ohm subs together, you'll have a final load of either 8 ohms or 2 ohms, depending on if you choose to wire them in series or parallel. That being said, you'll want to look for an amp capable of putting out 400-500W RMS @ 2 ohms and you'll want to wire it in parallel. Anything that can do that at 8 ohms is going to do a lot, lot more at two and ultimately be way out of your budget.

Third, check Craigslist. I've found lot of good secondhand stuff on there for cheap. You're not going to find a decent amp new at that price. There are cheap amp brands, but they're cheap for a reason. I've got a few minutes to kill, I'll check CL for you.

Pretty much everything else I saw was utter crap. I'd recommend one of the Alpines. You could probably swing the 650. As long as you set your gains right, maybe turn them a tad down, and don't listen to straight bass-boosted music you shouldn't have any issues.

Two 4 ohm subs wired in parallel is a 2 ohm load.

You're right, then you could wire them to 2, then the pair to 1.

I have and old school Mtx 4 channel, that you could bridge to each woofer. Underrated for sure,push a 13w3 quite well, 65 shipped
