Lookin for the best of the best...

You're not going to really gain anything just swapping out subs especially since you are going from a high end sub to another. You'd just be moving sideways.
If I were you, I'd upgrade electrical/amps, sound deadening, or a better enclosure.

Only real thing you'd see gains out of by just upgrading your sub is by moving to something with either more subs or more cone area.
x2 up the power or build the optimum enclosure for the sub you choose vs just dropping in a replacement that's probably not ideal for your enclosure...

The sub has never hit anything, so i have no idea why the surround is starting to tear. I'm obviously not pushing it to it's max, and i've got all my amp settings right, so i'm not rippin it up by playing max power under tuning. I'd like something a little more realiable (not saying the DP isn't, it's just i'm not going to recone a perfect sub because the surround rips out of it again. This is the only sub i've ever had a problem doing this, so i'm like to see what other subs will do. I'm really leaning towards the Omega, unless there is a cheap solution to just replace the surround of my DP when it completely blows out..

And right now, the amp i have is fine, so don't say another word about upping power. I"m going to be getting a DC power alternator soon (the 240 or 250 i believe it was for my truck), so theres more power. I'm a full time engineering student with a part time job, on a race team, and in 2 other clubs, and the box i have now is fine, so why fix something that's good?

its not good dude. thats what everyone is telling you. in your car and power a 140 flat should be cake all the way around! ALSO MOVING FROM YOUR SUB TO A HDC3 OR OMEGA WILL NOT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE! maybe a .1 of a difference but that is not something you could hear so why waste the money? if you want to get louder with the amp you have now then id suggest:

1) fix your subwoofer.

2) get bigger wire because im kinda sure youre running all 4 gauge.

3) get the HO alt.

4) get a extra battery of some sort.

you wont get louder with out adding more power, electrical and or more cone area. i didnt want to buy a new amp or go up in power because the HO alts for my car cause belt noise (stated by mechman) so i went from a hdc3 12 to four lower rms 10's...

so either buy a new 12 and wast 2--300$ and not get any louder or actually take the time to listen to some of these senior members here trying to help you out. if you dont want to listen then why did you join the forum? 87% of the people on this forum are louder than you. also i really doubt your box will help put up decent numbers in any way. may look neat but thats it. sorry bro

I'm not disputing anything you're saying or anyone else is saying. I never said i was a master and wasn't going to listen to what other people had to say, so don't say i did. I know most people on this sight are louder than me, i don't care. The comment you made about my box; the only reason i made it the way it is, is to optimise air space for my truck since it's a single cab and was not going to give up the center console. The only way i could fit a 6 " aero port in a box behind my seat was to mold fiberglass like that so my center seat would still be able to fold up, not because i thought it would look pretty. Please next time ask why i chose a design instead of voicing your opinion, which was wrong in this case.

I know my box isn't as loud a setup as i can get, but i also wanted use of my center seat and have it look half way decent. I'm sure a lot of guy on this website have stupidly loud systems, and i applaud them for that, but some look like complete ***. That's just their preference.

Now, to your little check list:

1.) This is the second time the surround has ripped (this time it hasn't gone all the way through so i put some rubber cement on it to slow it/stop it). I don't want to keep a woofer that's going to constantly need reconing because the surround is coming apart. I looked closer at it today, and the surround isn't just tearin clean in 2 at the cone, the surround is separating from itself like the surround is made of 2 layers.

2.) All of my wire is 1/0 besides abou 6" where it goes into a distribution block and goes to 4 gauge for my sub amp and mids and highs amp. Again, ask me quesiton before your voice your opinion on something that isn't right.

3.) I am getting a high output alternator, so enough said.

4.) I'm running an 1100 CA battery along with a Stinger SP 1700 (they are isolated, just incase you were going to say something about that). The stinger hasn't helped voltage much at all, i'm still staying around 12.2 when cranked.

The main point in me making this thread was to try and get some opinions on what a good alternative to the DP was. I'm tired of the surround failing me, and wanted to possibly upgrade or chose something along the same lines as the DP. I would love to get louder, but even if i didn't, i still wouldnt have the headache of dealing with a sub that has a faulty surround. And like most everyone else on this sight, i like to switch things up every now and then to try something new and different.

Call IA about your "faulty" surround then..

Im doubting it just ripped outta the blue- the surrounds are stout

we run from 4 18" DP's - 6 18" DR's- 2 21"DP's etc... never had a problem

he warranties manufacturer defects...

I've already dealt with them once about the surround and they sent me a recone shortly after, and at the time they didn't have an answer for why it ripped, except for maybe overexcursion, but i've seen DP's more a lot more than mine ever has..

The DP has served it's purpose (pulled a 140 flat from it), but i would like something a little louder.
You could have at least went back and edited your first post to cover your ***, idiot. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

OP wants to get louder but isn't willing to discuss amplifier upgrades or different enclosures.
Why bother trying to help him when he's not willing to help himself?
Exactly. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif A bigger alt will hardly make an audible difference, if at all. However, a bigger alt and a more powerful amp would make a huge difference. For example.

It's always easier to buy a new sub and drop it in to a box that you already have. OP is taking the easy way out, although it will provide no gain. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif
