My current setup is an IA DP 12 running off about 1300 watts. It's in an all fiberglass box behind the seats in my Dodge, which is about 2.6 cubes with a 6" aero port tuned to around 36 hz.. I'm looking to get rid of the DP and try something differnet for a while. The DP has served it's purpose (pulled a 140 flat from it), but i would like something a little louder. My bday is quickly coming up so i'll have about 400 to spend. What would be a good sub to integrate into my setup now?

I was looking at either the Omega 12, or possibly an HDC3 12. I haven't called on pricing of somethin like a DC LV4XL, or a DD 9512, or anything along those lines. I just wants people opinions that have heard a variety of subs, and give me something good to pick from. I'm open to any suggestions..

I had a Fi Bl in the same box for a while running off only 750 and was very impressed with it, so i might be considering a BTL this time around.. Any and all suggestions are welcome though..

Ok, so i've narrowed it down to either the HDC3-A or the Omega. I'm looking for loud and low, with an emphasis on low. The Omega looks inticing, but the HDC is cheaper. Whats everyone opinion?

What do you have for an amp? If you only pulled a 140 with a DP, something's wrong with your setup. It should easily run with or surpass anything you've listed

To answer the first question i've got a Powerbass ASA1500.1. It's a stout amp, and no i'm not going to get a bigger amp so don't mention it.

And yeah 140 might not seem like much, but try getting that in a regular cab and this is the second box to ever be in the truck. Yeah, i'm sure if i didn't goto college or work i could mess with my truck and get it louder, but it's loud for what it is.

I'm not going to be changing the box.

I'm also not so impressed with the surround on the DP. I've only had this new recone for 3 months max and it's starting to tear a little where it meets the cone. It's not from overexcursion, because i'm pretty sure i'd hear the coil hitting before the surround gives out. The tear isn't all the way through yet, but it's just irritating, so i wanna get rid of it. My old Fi Bl had a different feeling surround, and moved a hell of a lot more than my DP, and i never had a problem with the surround. So i'm leaning to either a BTL, HDC, or Omega.

How big is that box?

About 2.4~2.5 cubes. Might not seem like it, but it is.

You're not going to really gain anything just swapping out subs especially since you are going from a high end sub to another. You'd just be moving sideways.

If I were you, I'd upgrade electrical/amps, sound deadening, or a better enclosure.

Only real thing you'd see gains out of by just upgrading your sub is by moving to something with either more subs or more cone area.

you dont have the power to push the DP to its potential, nor a BTL or hdc3

If the surround is tearing then it hit something...

Without more power your not going to get louder....

Have you clamped that amp for this 1300w claim? Im betting you are getting 1k outta it max..

Find a sub that works well enough in the space you have, and make sure it's efficient enough to run off the power you have aswell. The DP is just too power hungry to put it in that enclosure with that much power. I have no doubt that it wasn't performing to it's potential

Don't believe everyone telling you your not going to get louder w/o changing amps or the box, not all subs are built the same therefore they all perform differently in their respected enviroments. If you find a sub that is suited to to your space/power provided it will undoubtedly be louder than one that isn't (aka your current DP)

DP is a bottomless design, so its impossible for the coil to hit the back plate.
