Hello,

I have a 2012 Dodge Avenger with the 430 head unit, no Boston Acoustics or amp. I am looking to replace the 6.5 door speakers and the 6x9 rear deck speaker and add an amp. Not sure if i should replace the two 3.5 dash speakers as well. I want loud clear sound with bass but don't want to add a sub.

Thanks for any advice!!

So no need for an amp?
Id run a minimum of a 75x4.A Head unit provides very little power(10-15 watts) and an opportunity for lots of distortion and damaging speakers at fair to high volumes without any filtering. The 3.5 in the dash may or may not need replacing until you pull and look.If they are fine, they can be ran of HU power(Recommend Bass Blocker)and the 6.5s and rear 6x9s off amplifier. You may not even need hook the 3.5s back up if running a decent pair of 6.5s.If you are going to spend money on good/upgraded speakers, its always best to place an amp on them to filter out the distortion,as well as to set your gains to keep from Clipping/damaging your investment and enjoy great sound, and to make your investments last
