4"-5"??? Probably not. Why is 1 10" any different then 1 18" with 4kw? Why do you need cone area to be loud?

Not from an SPL standpoint. Why does one feel the need to run 4kW to a single 18"? Because they can. Why have I chosen to run 4kW to a single 10"? Because I can.

If I can be honest with you, I haven't the faintest idea as to why you're being defensive. I interpreted what you said as why do people use large drivers to be loud...because more cone area equals more output. You don't need a large speaker to be loud, but if you've done all you can with enclosures, a larger cone is the next obvious choice. as far as I understand, he's saying that ppl are *****ing about how much power he's throwing at it because it's a ten, when in fact, the 10" has got the same coil/power handling as an 18.

Ppl throw 4k to a single 18" with 3" coil and think it's fine but they see that 10 and they go zomg, it wont take that much power.

Cone size dont affect power handling.

I didnt mean to come off like that, just tired of people telling me all about the sub. It seems like everyone on CA knows it all and I get defensive of someone telling me it wont be a good driver. Its not even broken in, nor has it played a not on actual power. They have no clue but like to talk.

Well, the FS can also be effected but I have a nice heavy coil so hopefully that helps.

I used to run 8"s and that surprised people. I was getting sick of the big subs. I have had 18"s 15"s 12"s and 8"s. 10" is the only one left.

I'm gonna make a woofer that has a 25 layer flat wind coil, single 1 ohm, 25 progressive soft spiders, a tripple layer surround, running the same 4hp motor that so many other woofers use as a motor, slightly modified of course so I can call it my "own" then I'm gonna grab the TC LMS basket, paint it with flames, put 15kw's to it and talk down on everyone elses puny sub.

Ohh... I'll also make the coil 2.5" just to **** with munky.

SRSLY, stop jumping the guys case. Its his brand new subwoofer. Its got a 3", 2.5" LONG 8 layer flatwound coil. It will handle gobs of power.

Contrary to what you might think, the 4 spiders are probably a great thing in the end. The Qts of this sub should fall in the mid .4's, Fs in the mid to upper 30's. It should be an absolute brute of a 10" for music.
