Looked at the guts of my amp, Anything seem abnormal?

I've made my explanation. I am totally aware that its not the best brand out there, expected more considering it was the higher power version of my previous hifonics.

Op, ur running and an RE8....output is gona be minimal!! Lol.

Now i it was a SA8 then that would be a diff story.... Even a E8!

That glue does seem to be "sloppy" on there...

Gota love that Chinese quality control! Hahahha

I agree with you TC. But didn't feel like paying for overpriced subs when it comes to SA, just a temp setup.

I also had the same issue with my HDC3 18 running on 1 ohm, so yeah. Just throwing that out there, its been the same issue with two different subs and impedance, so the sub is irrelevant.

Glue is completely normal(The stuff on the toroids is most likely silicone). Helps keep the toroids and inductors from unwinding and also helps prevent them from vibrating and shorting out on themselves. There are also times at full output when transformers actually emit an audible noise and the silicone/glue will help minimize or comepletely get rid of that as well. Some manufacturers handle this differently but this is not the first hifonics amp I have seen like this. Its looks totally horrid but it is stock and it is functioning as intended.

I think your 2 examples are irrelevent in comparison. 1 sub rating is alot higher than the other which is why low output would seem correct for that application, the other is at 8ohm another reason output would seem low. Just because your at 8ohm does not mean your gonna be able to send that 8ohm half the power of 4ohm rating. Not too many amps out there designed to run at 8ohm unless it's in your house.

You are gonna loose alot of power at 8ohm. Rewire to 2ohm and adjust like mentioned previously. Russ
