Local BB getting ~ 60 PS3's

Talked to my friend who works there. He said he couldn't really say exactly how many, but after doing the guess and nod thing, he let on there would be about 60 PS3's on release date, and that about 75% of them would be the 60gb hdd ones. He said that they didn't really expect many people to buy them up immediately since most places are saying that they expect between 10-20 systems. Therefore, they figure most people will believe the same about them. He said he would do his best to hold me one if I showed up early (by hold he means guard over one) but if it was a mad rush there is nothing he can do. Doubt I'll try anyway though. Just thought I'd share.

Apparently alot of people on this board. Noticed the amount of ps3 posts lately? I posted because it's in direct contrast with what I've heard are alotted to stores. btw, do you really think only 20 people are going to line up at a BB? are you serious? If you don't line up at least thrusday morning your not getting one.

I just fail to see the attraction for buying something on its release date, when in six months the price would have fallen/bugs fixed/probably better aftermarket support, etc...

But, people do it so they can say they got it on the release date, waited 10 hours in line, or they just can't wait.

I'm perfectly happy with my PS2, and I don't intend on buying a PS3 for at least another year.

um, all walmarts are getting at least 20 units of 60gb minimum. Most BB are getting over 50. Atleast 5 Circuit City are getting 100 and one CC here in NY is getting 200.

You do realize that the 360 has FAR better in game rendering than the PS3 right? Not to mention costing a massive amount less. All of the really good looking videos from games for the PS3 have been pre-rendered movies, but Sony doesn't tell you that. The only people that I see rushing to buy this are stupid fanboys that think Sony is the only competitor in the console gaming market now.

You do realize the PS3 will have Hi def dvd player right. Go buy a toshiba Hi def DVD player and it will cost you 1 grand.

Well, that has more to do with your location. Around here (northern Alabama) EB's are quoting about 10-20, wal-mart says about 20, and most other stores are in the same category.

As it's repeatedly shown year after year after year, quality of a medium will not guarantee its survival as a format. Whether or not it's commercially accepted by the public will...
