LOC connection question

Until my friend can afford a DSP with high level inputs, he's being forced to use a LOC for his sub, so please skip the "LOCs are crap". I know. lol Anyway, he has an Infinity sound system with an amp and a subwoofer stock from the factory. I know how to hook em up and how to adjust them (this version is adjustable) if we were just coming straight off the factory HU. However, since this is coming off an amp, I wasn't sure if I needed to disconnect the factory sub or if I could safely tap into the factory sub's speaker wires while leaving them connected. I don't know if the addition of the LOC will cause the factory amp to see a drop in resistance and no longer work, or if it would essentially be invisible.

I can always disconnect the factory sub if needed. No biggie. I figured I would just ask before attempting.

l.o.c.'s are really not 'crap' if youre relegated to using them, sometimes there's no other affordable option. the concensus as to their viability is that it's better to not use one due to adding more susceptibility to noise and interference,.. personally, i dont see it as an issue in moderately low powered stock amplified audio packages.

done this plenty of times. you can in fact safely tap into the stock subwoofer's amplifier output as it is not that high powered and it retains the amplifier sub/mid crossover point, however, i wouldnt leave the stock sub connected with prudence paid to probable cancellation and anomalous sonic behavior with the additional drivers that have an entirely different response plot.

i believe the loc's manifest as a 4 ohm load per channel, but tbh, ive never gotten ambitious enough to have taken measurements,.. in fact, they may even present a much higher load and electronically render the signal on a logarithmic scale as to not cause distortion from over-driving the stock amplifier.

last loc i installed was on a 2001 jeep for an aura force 10 on a p.o.s. 300w pyramid (not my choice), and i found that wiring the loc's input in parallel with the stock sub output summs the signal,.. dude's still rockin out with no issues, i just wish the commie libtard would have paid me by now. (so much for helping friends)
