I not to sure why eveyone is always talking bad about MTX, i recently traded my Infinity Kappa Perfects 12.1's for two MTX Thunder 8000 12, after the clue on the Infintys came loose, I was shocked to find the MTX's out perfromed the Perfects in both

spl, Performence and SQ, I am happy and quite shocked, I do not understand why everyone gives MTX a bad name

I've never actually seen anyone here give MTX a bad name. Their amps are killer, their subs handle their power well, and they are quality. They just have never really been known to be on the SQ side of things. I myself am satisfied with my humble little 4000's (for now). 135 dB with 110 watts RMS to each sub ain't bad. They don't hit as low as i would like them to, but they get the job done for me. Have you seen the new 9500 series? They are some monsters.

let me put it in a slightly less cryptic manner for those taht are intellectually challenged.. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i only like the 8000's, respect teh RFL's for their SPL capabilities and am somewhat intrigued by the 9500 series... better?

Well, i just said the 8000's because the RFL isn't the greatest sub out there, and the 9500 does look sweet, but nobody's heard it yet (as far as people on this forum). So i just kinda assumed you'd leave those out. Sorry, didn't mean to sound ignorant.

Shopping at FutureShop eh? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

What kind of box did you have your Perfects in, because they should sound superior (tonally) to the MTX's.

I have been very impressed by MTX 8000's, especially in my early years in car audio. But, I have also heard some of their 12" 6000's sound like total crap. I switched a 12" RF punch HX2 for the 6000 and it absolutely killed the MTX. THough, I did have the RF wired down to 1 ohm whereas the MTX was running I think 4 ( 4 ohm SVC on the 6000's right?) so more power was coming from the amp, as well as the MTX was in a bandpass as opposed to my POS, hand-me-down, made in an afternoon by an amature ported box that I had the RF in. I would just say go with the 8000's (or higher i guess now) if you are gonna go for MTX's.
