Hello all,
I'm in some need for a little advice from some of you more experienced audiophiles. I currently drive a 1996 Ford Explorer 2D. I have 2 Eclipse sw4200 12"s in a prefab box all in which I bought almost 3 years ago. Since caraudio is like an addiction as some of your say, I feel the same as well. I plan on upgrading my setup. This is what I have so far in the truck as far as power distribution goes:
- I have all 8awg power and ground
- Stock alternator
- Stock battery
- No big 3
I plan on running 2 15"s to run a total of 1200-1500rms combined. Just not sure yet what to run. I was thinking maybe a pair of 15" Type R's, or a pair of AQ SDC2.5 15"s. Any other suggestions are welcomed. My budget for subs is no more than $350 for the pair.
For the enclosure, I'm thinking about something around 5-6 cubes tuned around 33-35Hz. I want to hit the lows well and have some SPL. Any help on this as well is appreciated.
The amp, I plan on getting the subs 4ohm DVC so I can draw 1ohm from the amp. My budget here is is about $280-$300 tops.
For the power distribution I want to know what would be best, 2/0 or 1/0 awg.
I have a couple other questions to ask as well. I tried searching for the specs on the stock alternator for my truck but couldn't find any. Does anyone know the specs on it? Will this alt be enough to power what I plan on upgrading to my vehicle if I were or were not to do the big 3? Or let's say get rid of my old battery and replace it with a new one.
