liquid sound deadening

I was thinking of deadening my trunk and only my trunk and i was wondering how much will i need for just the trunk. 2 qrts? and just a question, to use liquid deadener, in actually applying it, just remove the tires and protect the wheel, drums, shocks, struts, etc. with plastic?

Not unless you planned on deadening the wheel wells aswell. Which, IMHO, if you are just deadening your trunk, deadening your wheel wells also isn't worth the effort.

But, honestly, I'd recommend mat deadener for your purpose. I prefer mat based deadener for sheer mass loading applications over liquid.

because your stuff dries in like 6 days lol jk i like the mat first liquid over the top it works real good. im not a fan of just liquid by itself in what i have it doesnt fair as well as the mat in (a generic i know) knock knock test.

Remember,

Mat = mass loading

Liquid = Barrier Loading

I would go with a single layer of SS Damplifier and then follow up with a layer of liquid deadener. Second Skin's liquid is 100x better than eDead in every way imagineable. I think one gallon of Sludge would suit you just fine. Generally speaking 1 gallon liquid deadener = 40sqft coverage.

I would honestly go with the Damplifier, though...this way you can cover up unused holes. NEVER cover any bolts or access covers you made need to service.

Wrong. Liquid is also a mass loader aswell. Liquid has better barrier loading characteristics than mat (i.e. it absorbs and reflects sound better than mat), which is why it's good to use a combination of mat/liquid. But, liquid is still primarily a mass loader. Open or closed cell foam would be a better "definition" of a pure barrier loading material.

IMHO, mat is a more effective mass loader than liquid. Quicker and easier to apply aswell.

Ok thank you, just a quesiton on the mats. ( because i have no experience with it.) Will it easily just crease into the shape of my trunk and how to make it stick, just glue around the egdes i have no clue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

Yup. Any quality mat deadener is quite flexible and fairly easy to shove into creases

and how to make it stick, just glue around the egdes i have no clue //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
Nope. The mat is self-adhesive. You don't need glue or anything to make it stick.

All mats have an adhesive backing. Mats will conform well to most curves, but not all. In cases where the curve is severe, just cut a relief cut in the mat so you can fully flatten the mat, then fill in where the cut was made with a smaller peice.
