Linux is incredibly more powerful than windows if you have a degree in computer science or a very indepth working knowledge of programming languages. Otherwise linux just has too many nuances, currently, to make it a friendly, mass-marketed OS. I mean, really, what does the average computer user do on a day to day basis? Word processing, the internet and maybe an occasional game? There's a lot more you can do with a computer, but that's enough for 95% of the population.
