Line output converter adjustment.

A few days ago, i got my new system hooked up at Circuit City.

I have a sony 1000watt, and a single 15'' audiobahn...

Anyway, I used a line output converter to keep my factory deck in, but when they installed it, he said he need to make some 'adjustments' on the converter...

It's really not that loud at all... my friend used to have it in his Accord and it was much louder, and this is a trailblazer.

It looks like this:

Tomorrow i'm going to take apart everything and find where it's located.

Two questions:

1. Where would it be located?

2. What should I adjust on it to make it louder...

Okay, I'll guess along with you.

1-Close by the amp (?)

2a-Turn up the gains until something melts, smokes or sets off alarms...LOL!

or...

2b-Yank the easy listening music and drop in some hard rock CD!

I have that exact same converter in my car...I kinda wish that I had tried to find a high-end one. but hey it was cheap. Those have to be hooked up to your speaker wires, so i'm going to go ahead and guess that its in the dash behind your deck, due to the fact that itd be the easiest place to get to them....if all else fails follow your rca's

edit: for adjustments you turn the screw found in the space below the line out gain adjustment....as far as I know, give it a try and see if it doesnt work.

here is where you messed up.

1. you let BB do it.

2. you should have had installed a headunit allso..

l.o.c. are ok when you cant afford a deck. but they just put out a weak signal.. it's going to happen.. more then likely the adjustment's are all the way up on the LOC.. i know the P50's i get are usually allready cranked up stright from the factory. i rarely have to adjust them..

i usually allways install my LOC's behind the factory H/U just in case the customer want's a aftermarket deck down the road.. that way rca's and remote are right there where they need to be.

how would you know this? The best results are to adjust the signal as little as possible.

1. Locate your LOC, it could be anywhere. It might be behind the dash or it might be tapped off the rear speakers. Look for the RCAs going into the amp and go backwards from there.

2. Turn the gains on the LOC(they are only attenuators anyway) all the way up and your amp gain all the way down. That way you have changed the signal as little as possible. Get a DMM and test CD and take readings for AC volts. If there is too much INCOMING voltage, turn down the LOC accordingly to meet the amp input specs. Adjust your amp gain to provide proper output voltage.

3. Rock on.

BTW, Get a Navone if you must keep your stock HU.
