Line booster? & 2 gauge power limits?

Well I have a factory navi head unit, so I use that. In order to run my RCA's for the amp, I had to tap into my rear speaker wire. I dislike having to do this because I have to turn the headunit bass levels up to get the sub to actually perform. Therefore my speakers are putting out that bass and it doesn't sound too good. I'd rather be able to turn the bass down on the HU and turn up the treble/mid. So do they make like something I can add on to where I tapped into the speaker line that boosts the bass level? That way I can lower it out of the HU and then where I tapped in, it boosts it up going into the amp.

Also, does the remote turn on AWG matter a lot? I currently have 18 AWG I believe, but I'm upgrading from a 300W JL amp to a MMats 1600.2 amp which will be 1150W RMS, so would I need to upgrade my remote wire or will it be alright?

Still wondering about the line booster - I've done some searching but if it doesn't exist/if I'm using incorrect term, not going to find any results.
