Lights dimming, adding bat?

Ok, I just got in my Fi Q 15. I have it running 1000rms at 1 ohm on a Sundown 1500D on stock electrical. I am getting a bit of dimming. I have a run of 1/0 wire with a 1/0 battery to chassis ground. I am thinking of going pickup a Kinetik HC600 or HC800 and put it in the back since, I still have to hookup my JL 300/4 back there. Would this take a bit of strain of my front battery?

I REALLY dont want to have to change my alt. Factory amperage on my Tacoma is 80 amp.

Wow thats really close to what I am going to be running. I am undecided on a battery yet. I might get a new alt (mine is 80 amps as well) but I really dont want to if I can avoid it

Im running around 1000 rms, and had some dimming. Espically when I stop. It was on all stock with an 100 amp alt. Adding a kenetik hc800 in the back and Im good now. I havent even done the big 3 yet, none of it. So yeah a battery would solve the problem.

i'm running 2500 watts. i get mad dimmage even with a kinetic hc 2400 in the trunk, but tomorrow the yellow top goes under the hood, so that should be solved. i'll let you know how it goes just to give you an idea.

i doubt if throwing more batteries in there would be a solution. Big3 and HO alt are the way to go. But i have a batt in the back also //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

100% correct, batts. give you a little more time before the lights begin dimming, all your doing is adding a bigger "dam" to a "river" that you are using all of the "water" out of. if that makes any sense.

hmm. so we're talking hydroelectricity now?

i realize it's not going to solve the problem, but it won't hurt me. a YT under the hood is better than regular stock battery under the hood.

More, better batteries won't hurt. The Big 3 and proper grounding for the amp are more important.

A HO alt is great if you have a high continuous current draw (lots of tones, monotonous droning bass, etc...) but for quick transients (where you normally see dimming) a HO alt really doesn't help a whole lot. Since voltage has to drop for the regulator to up the amperage output on the alt in the first place, you will still get some dimming. Adding a battery can keep that initial drop from happening. As long as your alt can handle the average drain of your system (don't worry about the peak, a lot of the systems that guys on here have NO alt can handle the peak draw) you really won't see a benefit from a HO alt.

well i am running a stinger batt under hood, a spv70 in the rear,

1/0 big three, 1/0 run to back batt.. all of a stock 90 amp alt..

i drop down to at least 11.5 some times and still have no dimming what so ever even with H.I.D. headlights.

I've read that HID lights actually do better against dimming over regular lights. People who had regular lights that would dim would stop dimming after they upgraded to HID.
