Lights Dim...Get a cap or no??

well almost everyone is going to tell you no to....im going to agree.....a cap is not a solution for a struggeling charging system.....if u must upgrade something start w/ the alt(and wires from alt to batt and grounds)....then batt....then if u feel u need a cap add it then.....good luck my friend

I'd say it depends on what you mean by 'fade'.. if they get dim and stay dim during the entire bass hit (like a droning bass note) then you pretty much need an alternator.. if you are getting a tiny 'blink' as the bass hits then a cap might help since it will fill the tiny gap you have before the field voltage in the regulator can get increased..

At least, that's my understanding of the capacitor's use.. if your alternator is too small a cap won't help.. if you have a slow regulator then a cap might keep the blink out..
