Lightning Audio Amp - eh?

Originally posted by EPanther99 the fact that it is a class d doesnt have anything to do with how much heat it produces that is just the freq response and eff. plus most high quality amps have fans
I beg to differ with this statement. Class D amps are all about how much heat is produced. Why do you think they are so efficient ? The switching is alot faster which produces less heat. For example you have a normal class AB amp. your putting 100amp of current into. Your going to get 50 amp of power and 50amp of heat. With a class D amp with the same 100amp of current you will get 75 amp of power and 25 amp of heat. Due to their efficiency at the same impedence a class D amp would be cooler. But at the same time the lower the impedence the more heat is going to be produced. So a fan wouldn't hurt anything. Better to be safe than sorry. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
