life is killing me right now...

my son does have a small tumor located in the skull midline, we are talking treatment options at this time, apparently it was detected in the beginning stages which the dr said was good, however i guess they spread fairly quickly so we need to act on it at once, at this time they arent certain as to the exact classification of tumor...

Sending postive vibes your way man;)

Well, I don't know how they can say that it is a type that spreads quickly if they don't know what type it is yet.... unless they have suspicions based on the location of the tumor. The most common brain tumor in children is a medullobalstoma, a cancerous tumor in the brainstem. After that is a craniopharyngioma, which is benign, but found much higher in the brain. It is often symptomatic, although not technically cancerous. The symptoms are more related to its location.

Where exactly in the brain is this tumor located? Yes, midline, but down low, like in the brainstem, or up higher, in the midbrain or even higher, in the upper portions of the brain?

Good luck, bro, I hope they can take care of this quickly and you'll be able to get back to your life.

i just finished reading this thread. I have no idea what it would be like to be in your position, as i dont have children, and it is unfair that they have to suffer for no reason at all. My prayers will be with you, your son, your family, and for all affected by this crisis.

well the dr stated that in children it's common for the tumors to be of this one certain classification and they tend to spread through the body rapidly...apparently the worst effected parties of tumors are children under the age of 5...

so any way we have exploratory surgery scheduled for Friday, so please keep up in your prayers...thanks for the support thus far guys...

much love

good luck man....as we speak, i'm at childrens hospital in dayton ohio. My son is having a eeg right now because he's been having seizures. He's 8 years old and hasn't spoken a single word to his teachers since he started school..he's in second grade now and in danger of not advancing because they can't figure out how to assess his level of learning. But he's been having Petty mal seizures lately..as many as 20 per day so we're here trying to firure out what the issue is.

My wife is in back with him since they only allow one parent at a time so i brought my laptop to pass the time.

I can't imagine either... I never wanted kids growing up, even when I got married and afterwards... warned the wife that I didn't know if I'd ever be able to pull the trigger (no pun intended). Luckily, I took a leap of faith and gave in, and now have a new lease on life... that little guy (along with his mom) is my whole **** world now.

Not that I want to do it AGAIN... that first couple months was HELL, man! But I don't ever regret it.

Good luck to both of you guys, and you're in my prayers.
