License and tag a car

I am fixing to go get my new car licensed and tagged, but I dont know how much I should take since I dont have a check.

The car was $5295 and I bought it in TN with no sales tax, but Iam trying to license and tag it in KY. Will I have to pay sales tax on it, or how do they figure the taxes on a vehicle in KY. Sales tax in TN is .07 I think and in KY it is .06

Iam confused. I have $400 cash you think that will cover it?

You will have to pay KY sales tax on the vehicle. Call the DMV first and ask them if they have a set limit that they can charge for sales tax, as well as, how much it would cost for a new tag. Here in SC the max for sales tax is $300 and I believe the tag fee is no more than $25.

well...

taking a guess 6% of 5k tax=$300+registration fees+title fee . Title fee is usually around $20-25 bucks registration fee i have no idea but in the last 3 states i have registered vehicles its been between $60-$100.

Although im not sure what ky tax is or any of the other fees you might encounter this is just an axample.so it might be more ,you might be a little short .

I paid $1700 for a car, and it cost about $100 for it all, including tags, title, and inspection. Was about $300 for it all with insurance.

to bad you couldn't do the I bought it for 500bucks thing, I mean 99% of the time the seller is cool w/ it...or so people tell me.

I mean the whole thing is a scam if you have a car it can be sold a infinite amount of times each sale yielding the state $$ plus DMV fees, sometimes I feel like asking the overweight nimrod at DMV if I can just push the button on the computer myself and keep my 2.25% lol

One of my favorite scams the state pulls (or at least CA) is the tire disposal charge when you buy a new car....uhh wait if the cars new that means it has it's 1st set of tires on it...so what tires were disposed of.....hmmm (this is one of that many reasons I will never buy new)

nah bought it out of state, so i didnt have to pay the sales tax at the dealer, only when i go to license it.

Yeah i thought about photoshoppin the receipt of sale and be like yeah i only paid 2500 for it, but i figured i better go about it the legal way
