Level Setting? Not Gains?

What does it mean for an amp to have no gain on it, but only a "level" As I turn it up the sub gets louder but it almost seems to get louder as a result of playing more frequencies. When it is near all the way down the sub is quiet but deep, but when it is all the way up the sub is loud but it sounds like it is playing a bit too high frequency of sounds. There is no gain on this amp at all. I have the RCA's hooked up in the Low Pass Filter side of the amp. Here are pictures of the setup in general and also the amp. It's a Jensen 100w x 4 @ 4 ohm amp.

the level is the gain. What i dont see is crossovers. Does it say Low Input or does it actually say Low Pass Input? If it says low in put that just means the RCAs go in there. I dont think that amp is what you want to be using for a sub by the looks of the controls it has on it.

level is essentially gain...turn it down!!! No need for it to be at max...most likely sending a clipped signal...teh ghetto install you have there buddy

edit: **** it Brad..I was trying to update my Norton and u posted before me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

I probably am sending a clipped signal as it is. I'm trying to find someone I know with a DMM I can do it with. I was also unsure if the way to set that Level setting was the same as the Gain setting tutorial. And it says on the Amp Low Input. The other side of the amp has a High Input for speaker level connections. It has an internal crossover, I tested it using a Battery Charger with a buncha speakers I have sitting around before I installed it. While plugged into the RCA the signal is definately filtered to only low frequency but I don't know how low. And yes I know it is a way ghetto install lol... Matches the personality of the Car... With my Cheap Hubcaps and my Blue Door handle and little deedler antennae and windshield wipers that don't hit the windshield and Trunk, Hood, and Gas Door releases that are just peices of bare wire I pull.
