I just want to increase my general knowledge about batteries for car audio use. I know a little bit, but not too much. What numbers should I look at? I know there is cold cranking amps and amp hours, but how do these relate to how they perform in a car audio system?

something else looked at for batterys in car audio use - is short circut current I believe.

how much the battery can put off at a dead short.

normal wet cells ( like a regular car starting battery ) can only put off so much at a dead short.

vs

car audio type batterys can supply conciderably more current during a dead short situation.

this is good - because car amplafiers generaly ask for power verry quickly.

im a bit of a battery newb myself - and im not exactly shure what those ratings would be called on most types of batterys and or if they are even advertized as specifications on other batterys besides stuff like kenitik ext..

its simple for me ..in my opinion if your doing it big and your forreal get powermasters or kinetik both great batts most say powermaster are better but it just comes down to preference i like the kinetiks as of choosing wats right for you and their line is just more simple

What about stinger power2 I'm looking at getting a set of nice batteries for my car also. Was thinking optima red top (dual post) under the hood and a stinger SPP680 in the rear.

If you run different batteries or different aged batteries you must at least make sure they are all healthy and are working correctly. if one is sulfated it will ruin the other in more ways than one.

How have you verified that your alternator is making that much current under real world operating conditions in your vehicle?

That would be close to 4000w rms give or take. I recommend a 75ah or larger AGM battery and a 240a or larger alternator. And you will need 2/0 or...
