Lets discuss tipping

I try to always tip 20%

I've had shitty jobs and tips help make it a little better. I feel for the waiters and waitresses, and I try to give them as little shit as possible because I know they're having to deal with it elsewhere.

are you serious people?

you make that much money (2-3/hour plus tips, or even 5,6 an hour plus tips)

because

1 of 2 reasons:

- under 18

- can't get off your *** to get a better job, learn a trade or go to school.

i have 0 schooling behind me, and at 20, make 14/hour. not bad for PA, and i plan on making more than that in a next few years. remember, 0 schooling. i might take cisco/etc classes to make beyond that.

its all will power.

Yeah, the waitstaff makes a shitty wage. But if you really think about it, that just encourages them to be better at what they do.Do you honestly think your server would give a **** about you and your list of demands for your food if he/she was making $12 hr. regardless of tips?

They KNOW **** well what the job pays when they get into it.EXPECTING a tip, regardless of the service they provide puts them on the same level as the people on the streets asking for money. By making a shitty wage, they should want to try and be as pleasing as possible. If not, they're loss.

I will never forget to tip though. If they sucked ***, I'll just leave em' some change and they'll get the point. For me, tip amount depends PURELY on service, not on a percentage of what the bill is.

As for other services, I will tip if I feel 100% satisfied with their work, or if they showed some kind of indication they went an extra step to make sure I was happy.Especially if they're already making a decent amount of money.

a good bartender deserves a tip. on a 5$ drink, most will give a dollar, which is 20%. a waitress that doesn't cook or prepare the food deserves less.
I wouldn't say that at all. They dont prepare the item. But they are motivated to get you the best drink or meal, and also rush out to see you and serve you a lot more.

Like the wannabe douche bags with the superiority complexes who happen to be posting on here also?

No, you ride on your parents coat tails you stupid bitch. You just do what they tell you.

I was making 20/hr when i was 17/18. Dont act like you're special. A good server can make 500 a week.. and they earn every cent of it. Not only can a good server get you better food quicker, they can engage you in stimulating converstation.

Learn a trade? As a server i bet i knew more than you, could do anything i needed to better, but also had my ego in check as well as having realistic goals that i could obtain without someone elses hand in my pocket.

Nothing is mandatory. I don't have to obey laws, but I do, because its the right thing to do, tipping is the right thing to do, not based on morals, but rather social economics.
not really. the right thing to do would be to pay the waitress a decent wage instead of thrusting their employees pay on the customer

Wouldn't this thread be funny if it was about cow tipping instead?
That's what I thought it was about originally, but was dissapointed to find another stupid thread on tipping (which seems like to some it's geared towards sympathy than anything else).

In that case, maybe I'll leave a sympathy card for them as a tip instead.

i always leave a tip, the amount depends on the service
i like to make things round so if my bill is $16 i will leave $20, but if my bill is $18 i will probably still leave $20 plus whatever change i have unless the service was outstanding then i will leave $25, just makes it easier for me.

at bars i never tip for an individual drink unless the drink leaves me with a quarter. if i am paying $3 for a beer there is no way in hell i am tipping a buck each beer. i will either leave $5 at the end of the night to the bartender who served me the most or give a buck every 3-4 drinks

as for tipping my mechanic, **** that, he already makes $50 an hour off me
actually your mechanic is being paid about $20 an hour. its the dealership/shop that gets the rest of your money.

$120/hr flat rate? your mechanic is seeing $20 and the dealer is seeing $100 for every hour clocked...4 hr job means, $80 for the mechanic and 400 for the shop. of course if he gets the 4 hr job done in 2 hrs, then esentially hes making $40 an hour but we wont get into that. what im saying is blame the dealer, not the man physically working for his money.

Hey douschebag, news flash:

I wasnt tooting my own fuckinng horn. I dont claim to make the most money, but i was proving a point. Entry level at my job is 14 / hr, take home ~1000-1100 biweekly with the benefits i get. I dont ride on my ******* parents coat tails you stupid ****, i pay to rent the attic out, i pay part of the electric, gas and water, i buy my own food, pay for my own car, pay my student loan, cell phone, buy my own clothes, the only thing i dont do is actually live by myself. I'm in the process of finding an apartment with reliable roommates.

i honestly couldn't give two shits if you made 50/hour at 20. school didnt work for me, i couldn't afford it. i don't come from a rich family.

again, shit you don't know about me, so stfu>

people like you need to shut their ******* mouth before they run it, a lot of people would bust you in your ******* face for talkin like that wannabe big shot behind a computer screen you bob ross penis ****** ho

actually my mechanic owns his own shop so yes he is getting $40-50/hr

i only go to a dealership if it is warranty work

either way i'm not tipping either of them
