Lets discuss tipping

What are you talking about? If you were refunded on your meal by the manager as just cause for bad service it is not stealing. All I'm saying is that if you are dissatisfied with your service, you should complain. You would get more done that way. Not leaving a tip just makes you out to be the ***hole.

BTW I'm not a waiter. See the post below yours.
I am talking about what you are saying. I do not care what you do for a living.

The way it came off was you were saying "If you get the service you need to pay for it."

Why would you ask to be refunded on a meal based upon the service? If there was nothing wrong with the meal, there is no reason you should get a refund.

Why would you tip for horrendous service?

Well those of you who dont tip are a bunch of ***'s cause all i get paid is delivery charge and tips (pizza delivery guy)
i agree. im a bartender man, i work off tips too.

but nothing is holding me at this job. i know if i dont like it im free to quit at any time, and will do so when the money isnt worth it..and not spend my time complaining about it.

As long as my pizza arrives in good condition and still nice and hot then I have no problem giving a nice tip. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Also, when I'm at a bar and drinks are cheap I tend to tip more. $1 domestic bottles at one of the gentlemen's establishments on the weekends. Since a round costs $5 I'll usually give em $2 per round. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Hell, $7 for 5 beers is still cheap as hell.

I always tip, just a nice thing to do on my end.

The only time I tipped very little was a couple weeks ago, me and my g/f went to Applebees to get some 1/2 off appetizers, and we were ignored for over 20 minutes.

My g/f asked to see the manager, he apologized, and said he'd get someone over to our table ASAP. The waitress that had our table had walked right by us about 6-7 times prior.

The bill was $18, I gave her a $20.

If the bill is $30-35, I'll usually throw down $8-10 tip. If it's $50-60, $12-15.

Why would I have to be a waiter? I believe in fair pay for everyone in the working class. FYI I make way more than most waiters as a communication engineer.
i also believe in fair pay...waiting tables is no different than changing oil in someone's car, or cutting someone's hair. if you really want fair wages for all, vote to strike down jobs that depend on tips. On the flip side, i've been accused of tipping too well......at my 2 favorite eateries they fight over who gets to serve my family.

But its still not a law that says i have to tip.

Depends really.

Ive given larger tips then 15% at moderate priced places, and ive given a $0.05 tip at a $500.00+ meal (arrogant prick of a waiter deserved nothing more) very much depends on the place, and how good the service is. Usually the smallest thing can set me off about a restaurants service, especially at an upper class place.

drunk at the bar I gives the best tips.... cause I don't care... oh wait those girls clear $60/hr ?!?!?!

where I live you get paid $8Can/hr no matter what..... so WTF, I should give you an extra $6 for maybe 5 min of your time WHILE you are getting paid $8/hr for a $30 meal ??? gee it must **** if you get $10/hr to bust your balls doing real work hun ?!?!

I normally tip, 10-15%.... but I have been rethinking that long before this thread....

I know lots of people who don't tip at all... and why should they ? If the person giving the service isn't doing there job properly why not ***** about it to their employer and ask for a refund ??

ok i definitely didn't read all of these pages because i have ADD but... I have been a waiter for the last 5 years and... well... I forgot what I was going to say.

You need to tip.. I get $2.13 an hour.

My average does end up being around $15 an hour though.

Ummm... ok I'm done.

Why do I need to pay you more money because you choose to accept a low paying job? If I feel you did a good enough job to deserve a tip, then I'll give you one.

i bartend on the weekends, and if you dont show some sort of tip on the first drink, you wait for your second round. dont like it? leave. i have a 50/50 chance of the next person being a good tipper.
and if you are somewhat nice, i mispour on the liquor in your favor.
LOL so you rip off the bar to put a few extra bucks in your pocket, nice

haha i work at applebees and that is like a big prob.. these days so much taxes are taken out and tipshare and stuff like that. it makes it really hard to make money.
