So Im replacing the leads in my apx, they were tied down but now i have to go to floating leads. how long should they be from the outside of the cone to the terminals? it's a 15" woofer, 12 spoke basket with 8" spiders. measuring in a straight shot it's just over 2 1/2" from the lead hole in the cone to the terminal. anyone know?

Just eye it up...

might be a good idea to use a twist tie to attach the lead to the terminal so you can see if you have enough length... and remember it's better to have too much then to cut it too short...

Didnt think about using a twist tie, sounds like a good idea tho.

Well I had already went ahead and made it the exact length of the old tied down lead, just to be sure it was long enough. I can always snip the end and re-soldier. I may just free air the sub to full excursion and see if it's slapping and go from there. I think it's all I can really do, unless some expert sub builders know exactly how long it should be for my app.
